According to Better Homes & Gardens, “One trend in kitchen design is to mix wood finishes or colors, using contrast to draw special attention to different zones in the kitchen.” While for many years, the prevailing style dictated that kitchens and dining rooms should be perfectly matching, this has begun to look dated. After all, wood is a natural material, and part of its appeal comes from the serendipitous abnormality and variety in its grain, color, and shade.
